WHAT PROVOKED THIS

I saw the World Cup in the US as a money grab from way back. I thought it was a betrayal of our game. I knew I was not alone in my sentiment. But... What can you do?

I saw FIFA's President with the US President on stage, December 2025. 'Two Kings stroking each other, stroking their Golden Calf' - as the song lyrics state.

I watched two self congratulatory men, who appeared to be 'above us all' on TV. One awarding the new FIFA Peace Prize to the one who ... Well... You have got to be kidding right? But... No. You are serious?

It was too much for me, a farce played out as truth. I've worked in TV, I wondered what the cameraman was thinking? It was, and is, gobsmackingly bizarre. Reality TV as Reality.... really.

So the song came, a passionate cry against this as the artist reacts. Then the artist, having vented their feelings privately, hides out. Then I discovered a Petition was possible. What to write? And you want to think the best of people. You have never met them. You are not a trained to attack to get your way personality. And... It's just enough now.

CAMPAIGN OUTLINE

NEW PRESIDENT - FOCUS ON COMMON FAN

Gianni Infantino seeks re-election next May as President of FIFA. His platform bottom line is reported as 'to make as much money as possible.' He is incentivised in that regard. This Greed is Good approach sees The Common Fan discarded, irrelevant, the little person at this World Cup.

There can be no excuse that The American Market runs the show. FIFA has huge power and could control prices if it chose to for allowing venues to take part. And maybe Mr Infantino is a good guy looking out for The Common Fan? But ticket prices, and his celebration of making more income seems to speak otherwise.

So to have FIFA strategy change from BRAZEN GREED to one of serving us, The Common Fan a leadership change looks to be needed.

I've written an Open Letter you can sign and send to decision makers. I've made a song to help us bang the drum. If enough of us sign, play the music and act then we, and future generations, will attend World Cup games to inspire our teams.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

I was reminded by a friend of the essence of what this is about. I had not thought about the money for, no one makes money from streaming excepting the huge artists, It might buy a cup of coffee at best.

But what if we do have a head of steam? What if people do play it? I need to be in integrity.

This is a campaign. This is not about me trying to get rich. That's what it stands against! Thank you Trevor for the reminder!

So... If money comes from the song I pledge all proceeds to (1) go towards campaign (2) support development of grass roots football in the Okanagan Valley in Canada where I live and (2) to enable a Debating Contest for young people where we put down the phones and learn to debate again on important issues. Like 'The values, or not, of enabling The Common Fan!'

WHY DO THIS?

A son questions his father

My son asked me today. ‘Why do this campaign when you are stressed with other things demanding of your time?… Good question. I think it's because there comes a time to stand.

It's The Principle Of Acquiescence used by leaders who seek to dictate rather than seek agreement. I have been guilty of adhering to this. It's the fear of being attacked added to the 'what can I do?' excuses that have me hide out.

A stark example. In Germany before World War Two some were singled out as the enemy and had to wear a star, then they had to live in a certain neighbourhood, then they had to get on a train... Little by little the acquiesence of the Common Man, the lack of collective assembly to fight the dictator, and die for the cause, allows the leader to grow their power. Allied to the general populace allowing this.

So you may be shot, sued, attacked the dictator seeking to make hangings public to dissuade others. And it's just football right?...

So my son, this is about One Comman Man - One Common Fan - deciding enough is enough and banging a lone drum. And wondering if anyone would like to join with him in that?
